When I hear “all you need is love” I both nod my head in agreement and cringe. Because at the end of the day, it’s all love. But until then, there’s a lot of not-love to navigate, endure, wade through and suffer.
But at the end of the day… what does that phrase even mean? It’s often definitely not all you need in the span of a human lifetime. The end of the day (speaking metaphysically now) could be centuries, millenia or unimaginable eons.
Kind of depends on your world view. Is this life all there is, or is there some sort of eternal and continuous consciousness? If the former, it might be a nice ideal, but just a pollyanna meaningless or even offensive phrase. If the latter, well… we still have to get through this life don’t we? And how we apply that can make all the difference.
In this life.

Love and joy should rank highest. Even at the end of his life, diagnosed with caner, Dad defied the odds for years. He loved everybody and was powered by optimism and denial.
Lovely post. Beautiful painting.
