Love Light

Acrylic on reclaimed wood, 6.5″x10.5″

I thought it looked like the flame was being fed from the fuel reservoir in the heart. It was a little harder to come up with a title for this one than most. I think it works though.

This piece of reclaimed wood shows its scars a little more than most. There are some vertical gouges in the cloud shape at the top, towards the middle. They’re hard to see on the computer image, more noticeable on the original, but still subtle.

We all carry our scars, but that doesn’t stop the love light shining from our hearts, does it? Well, ideally anyway.

By the way, the imperfections in the slab of wood don’t affect the integrity of the paint layers or the archival stability of the piece in any way. Kind of the same for us, if you know what I mean.

This artwork is available for just $136.00. The sides are attractively painted black and you can hang it immediately with the attached paracord.

Future Blooms Now

Future Blooms Now

Acrylic on canvas, 11”x14”

Of course before the blooms arrive in the future they exist now in potential, or in thought. Everything that is, was not at one time, but the thought or the potential necessarily preceded it.

This is my second large(ish) dot painting to date. I have a bunch of canvases this size, but I’ll probably continue doing the smaller ones mostly, with a few like this thrown in now and then.

Funny, I used to paint on much larger canvases, but now I’m liking the small sizes better. Of course with dots, bigger = more time. Maybe I’m just getting impatient in my old age, but the small 6″x6″ and slightly bigger ones are very satisfying because I don’t have to wait so long to see what the finished product looks like!

This artwork is available for just $200.00. The sides are attractively painted black so you can hang it immediately until you get it framed.

The Sacred Heart Of Mother Earth

Acrylic on canvas, 11″x14″

This is my largest dot painting to date. I like how Mother’s heart is sparkling with energy and life! If you find it resonates with you more, substitute “God” for “Mother Earth.” However you say it, all that life is borne of love and sustained by love.

This artwork is available for just $200.00. The sides are attractively painted black so you can hang it immediately until you get it framed.

Love Bubbles Up

Acrylic on reclaimed wood, 4.25″x17″

If you’ve got a long narrow space that needs some art to set it off just right, you’ve found it here! A leftover piece of wood from some project or other was just right to turn a sketch into a painting.

This small artwork is available for just $170.00, ready to hang immediately with sides attractively painted black. Perfect for small or intimate spaces!

Gaspar, Melchior and Balthasar

Acrylic on Canvas, 8″x10″

Some of you will recognize the names as the mythical names of the three wise men who brought gifts to the baby Jesus. In this painting, I’m symbolizing the bringing of spiritual gifts and wisdom as orbs of energy, immaterial existences that exist alongside us, usually invisible to most, but nonetheless real and available.

This small artwork is available for just $144.00, ready to hang immediately with sides attractively painted black. But I think it would look great framed. Perfect for small or intimate spaces!

The One That Got Away

Acrylic on MDF panel, 6”x6”

Note: The one that got away isn’t any more beautiful than the others. No better. But its unique destiny was to get away and chart its own flight path away from the others.

A lot of dots within dots on this one. And I know it’s a little dark, but it’s meant to convey the idea of night, that when you chart your own path away from the crowd sometimes you may feel you have to do it away from the bright glare of the noonday sun. Especially applies to artists (and most of my friends!), I think!

This small artwork is available for just $96.00, ready to hang with attached paracord and sides attractively painted black. Or you can frame it if you prefer. Perfect for small or intimate spaces!

Even the Bird Has Doubts

Acrylic on MDF panel, 6″x5.75″

And why wouldn’t she?

What a weird time for all our fellow earthlings. Spread love? Sure. Refuse to succumb to depression and despair? Sure. Maintain a hopeful, positive attitude? You bet.

Will it make any difference?

…even the bird has doubts.

Lush

Lush

Acrylic on panel, 6”x6”

This reminds me of my earliest years in Honduras. We didn’t live in the jungle of course, but the whole environment was just — well, lush.

Refining the Technique

I did a bit of this in the last piece, “Moonshine” but it’s much clearer here. That is smaller dots within the larger dots. Also tiny dots between the larger ones. I really like the extra texture this can add. Also, it looks kind of like living cells, which is part of what I’m trying to show in these paintings. That is, that everything that exists is made up of not cells exactly, but little packets of energy.

These energy bits may not fit the technical definition of life, but they sure do seem to have a life of some kind. Mind you, my own take is that everything has some sort of life and some sort of consciousness, albeit very very different from anything we might recognize from our own frame of reference.

I also did something completely different, in that up until this piece, I’ve been using background colors that are a darker version of the main color of the dots in that particular area. Then I paint a heavy black outline around each area of color before painting the dots.

For this painting, I painted the entire surface black, and drew the composition directly on the black background, so no heavy black outlines as I’ve been using. I’m not sure if I want to keep doing this, but I think it worked in this piece.

This small artwork is available for just $96.00, ready to hang with attached paracord and sides attractively painted black. Or you can frame it if you prefer. Perfect for small or intimate spaces!
