To me, she represents an archetypal timeless spirit of the farmer, acknowledging that the very first farmers were probably mostly women. In indigenous cultures, those who gather are taught to leave the best plants so that the stock will be strengthened for the next gathering (harvest). Sounds like the beginnings of farming to me.
