Flying High

9×6” Acrylic markers on canvas panel

I’m still experimenting with using AI to write captions. Now on this one, the AI thinks it’s a flower and fishes.

Further iterations were just as useless.

So I’ll just let it sit with the title.

Do you like it? If you do, imagine what fun it would be having this original artwork delivered right to your door (like where else would it get delivered?).

Acrylic Markers Gone Wild!

OMG I love these acrylic markers! Here’s what I’ve done in the past couple of weeks (I’ll be posting the individual paintings too). Sizes ranging from 6×6″ to 9×12″ on canvas panels. I can paint as fast as I can draw with these. So far I have only a limited palette of colors, but that’s a good thing as it forces me to be creative with what I do have.

Purple Haze

6×6″ Acrylic markers on canvas panel

Dive into this captivating painting that brings to life a majestic tree set amidst distant mountains, creating a scene that exudes natural power and tranquility. Let this artwork ignite your imagination and awaken your love for nature.

(AI generated caption, with some modifications. Sometimes it’s hard to know what to say about my paintings, so this might be a tool to help me express myself. If I could say it in words, I’d be a writer or poet. But I’m a painter.)

6×6″ Acrylic Posca pens on canvas panel.

Delve into the surreal world of oceanic artistry, where a mesmerizing starfish, fish and a luminous jellyfish gracefully swim, igniting the imagination. Immerse yourself in the magic of the deep blue!

This is the second one of these little artworks.

River Bend

Acrylic paint pen on canvas panel 6×6″

So here’s something a little different for me. I’ve done a bunch of work with this drawing style, but the actual technique is new for me.

This is the first one I’ve done using acrylic paint pens. Which I’m finding out suit me really well. There’s an immediacy to making marks with a stylus that’s very different than using a brush. And I have to say so far I really like the experience. And they’re fast! They dry much faster than traditional paints so I don’t lose my momentum while waiting for paint to dry.

I’ll be posting a bunch of these in the coming days. Hope you enjoy them!

Saint Grizz & Wohali

Saint Grizz & Wohali

I painted Saint Grizz just before the pandemic. My client then commissioned Wohali (Cherokee for eagle). Both were gifts for his father. I haven’t painted this exact style for a few years, but it was fun, and I’m happy with the result.

Both are acrylic on stretched canvas, 25×25″ so a lot bigger than I usually work. I think the thing holding me back from painting more larger works is just the expense and difficulty of shipping them safely and securely. These were both relatively local, so no shipping was involved.

The best way to ship paintings this size is to buy shipping boxes specifically made for paintings. I did that a few times years ago when we lived in Pittsburgh and I shipped paintings around the country for exhibitions. They’re great, very sturdy, beautifully cushioned, almost bomb proof!
